IT AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION FOR KUSUM FOUNDATION

IT AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION FOR KUSUM FOUNDATION

Inauguration of our New Knowledge Centre to provide IT and vocational education in village Katesar, Chapra, Saran, Bihar on the 14th Dec’08.

Kusum Foundation is a charitable organisation with emphasis on upliftment of the rural people in Bihar, India. Through IT and vocational education, the foundation endeavours to bring a socio-economic change in rural Bihar. Kusum Foundation has been imparting vocational training successfully in ICT, sewing and embroidery for over seven years.

The foundation has trained 3,117 students. Many of these trained students have been successfully employed in private as well as in government sectors like the army etc. The girls/ladies having been trained in sewing and embroidery feel empowered with a sense of achievement, satisfaction and pride in society (while there is still a reservation in people’s mind regarding girls formal education, leave aside vocational).

Ruchika Social Service Organisation (Voice of children), Bhubaneshwar also identified Kusum Foundation and invited nomination for Inderjit Khurana National Award-2015 among other nominations.

The foundation commenced its humble pursuit towards skill development around seven years ago with only two computers and nine sewing machines. The passage of time has been underpinned with an accelerated demand and interest in acquiring vocational skills by boys and girls/ladies from in and around the cluster of villages spanning around 25 kilometres radius.

Due to this, the foundation has humbly moved forward in its noble objective of imparting vocational training with an infrastructure of 20 computers, 11 sewing machines and four embroidery machines.
